PROJEKT ELEVATE is a unique micro-commissioning scheme supporting migrant theatre makers to develop bold ideas for co-created work in partnership with leading venues around the UK.

In 2024, we are partnering with Theatre Royal Plymouth to work with 3 migrant artists based in the South West, to support them in developing their ambitious ideas for participatory work.

THEATRE ROYAL PLYMOUTH

Theatre Royal Plymouth is the largest and most well-attended regional producing theatre in the UK, presenting diverse productions on three stages: The Lyric, The Drum & The Lab. With a regional audience of over 2.1 million, they employ 300+ dedicated staff and attract 300,000+ annual audience members. Their engagement and learning activities reach thousands of people annually, with a focus on engaging disadvantaged communities and those who feel excluded from the arts. As the principal home of performing arts in the South West, they engage and inspire many communities, creating memorable experiences for people from all backgrounds.

As a cultural organisation, TRP has an important part to play in promoting inclusivity in the arts, ensuring people of all backgrounds are empowered to express their creativity and deepen their artistic practice. PROJEKT ELEVATE gives us the opportunity to reach and celebrate migrant theatre-makers in the South West at a time that feels especially vital to do so.

We’re excited to be working with PROJEKT EUROPA on this collaborative project and are looking forward to seeing what concepts the successful applicants come up with.’
